Visiting places you have read about or seen pictures of can sometimes prove an anticlimax. Others far exceed expectations. One such is the impressive engineering structure in Devon – the Meldon Viaduct. It may not have the cache of the great cathedrals, castles and abbeys but it stands today in a lonely part of the mid-Devon countryside as a testament to a crucial part of this country’s history...
