Teaching Indigenous Histories and Perspectives in Schools (TIHPS)

Registration is now open for the Teaching Indigenous Histories and Perspectives (TIHPS) summer conference on Saturday 28 June 2025.

Heavily subsidised by the University of Sheffield, registration costs just £10 including catering for the day, and bursaries are available for travel and for attendance to enable as many people as possible to attend.

Aimed particularly at teachers, and in partnership with the Schools History Project, Incomindios UK and the Centre for Indigenous and Settler Colonial Studies, the TIHPS conference features a keynote from well-known art historian and cultural consultant Dr Stephanie Pratt (Crow-Creek Dakota), as well as expert workshops, free resources, new schemes of work, and the possibility of free ongoing support and CPD for your school or trust. Our resources are particularly focused on Upper KS2 and KS3, but the principles are applicable to all ages, including GCSE and A-level topics touching on Indigenous Americans.

The organisers would love as many people as possible to come and form an ongoing community of practice, so please do share the attached flyer with your colleagues and networks and don't hesitate to contact Caroline Pennock at Sheffield (c.pennock@sheffield.ac.uk) if you have any questions.
