What does this webinar cover?

Join this free webinar to learn about the work of two Holocaust Education charities, Generation 2 Generation (G2G) and Northern Holocaust Education Group (NHEG), which provide accredited speakers to schools and other organisations across the UK throughout the year. G2G and NHEG speakers share their own families’ Holocaust/Nazi persecution stories and experiences using eyewitness testimony.

  • How is the webinar structured and delivered?

In this live webinar, participants will watch one presentation and see a couple of excerpts from different experiences. There will also be an opportunity for Q&A.

  • Who is the webinar aimed at?

The webinar is aimed at teachers of Years 6 to 13. NHEG and G2G speakers cover all ages and stages and ensure that presentations are age-appropriate, historically accurate, high quality and engaging.

  • What are the learning outcomes?

In this webinar, you will gain an understanding of resources to support teaching of Holocaust/Nazi persecution available through G2G and NHEG. These resources will support you to:

    • - Gain a better understanding for your students and staff of the Holocaust/Nazi persecution
    • - Make sense of what actually happened to individuals
    • - Address hatred, discrimination and persecution
  • Who is presenting the webinar?

Lesley Urbach is a founder member, Trustee and Associate Director of Generation 2 Generation. She tells her mother’s family history as well as that of a family friend. In both, she makes use of letters written by grandparents who were eventually murdered.

Ernie Hunter is a founder member, Trustee and Chair of Northern Holocaust Education Group. He is Second Generation, and his mother was a senior German civil servant who was, at age 32, forced to retire purely because she was Jewish. His father was not Jewish but was a Communist functionary who actively opposed the Nazi regime. Ernie has been involved in Holocaust education for over ten years and has returned to Germany to share his family story there.

Leah Burman is a founder member and Trustee of Northern Holocaust Education Group. She is Second Generation. Both her parents were born in Poland. Her father survived three concentration camps and forced marches and is the sole survivor from his immediate family, while her mother and family were in a Russian labour camp during the Second World War. Leah is an experienced educational and child psychologist and schools’ inspector for special educational needs and is used to working with children and young people of all ages.

  • What does it cost?

This webinar is free for anyone to access.

  • How do I take part?

The webinar will take place online over Zoom.
