Period Study
The Period Studies fit halfway between the thematic and depth studies in terms of the length of time they represent. There is a huge range of options between the awarding bodies. Options include AQA’s Germany 1890-1945 to Pearson’s Spain and the ‘New World’, c1490–c1555. There are both challenges and opportunities for the History teacher when planning these modules. Students will gain a real depth of historical understanding and develop concepts such as cause and consequence. There contextual knowledge should be much richer.
