The Historical Association's response to Curriculum Review 2024
Deadline for comments: end of Wednesday 20 November
It’s Curriculum Review time – make sure you influence the changes!
New government, new curriculum review!
It always happens when there is a big change in who is in charge. But just because it always happens doesn’t mean you can ignore it. Ten years ago, substantial changes were made to education, and they have affected a whole generation of children and teachers.
That is why it is important to respond to the current government’s consultation. Just like last time you, through the HA, have an opportunity to make your concerns and thoughts clear and ultimately affect policy.
You have already made your voices heard through your responses to our primary, secondary and student surveys. Using your collective survey responses and other outreach, we have put together a curriculum response, but we want to give you a final say before we submit it.
Have we got it right? Do we emphasise the right things? Have we read the educational landscape correctly? Only you can tell us – but you must be quick. We need to submit our final response by the closing date on 22 November.
So, there is no time to waste. If you want to ensure the next generation of children receive – and your life as a teacher is spent delivering – the best education, then please read our summary response below and send any comments to Mel Jones at melanie.jones@history.org.uk by no later than 20 November.
