Ice delivered to your door by train? All the way from Norway? Why? How did they stop it melting? And where would you keep a block of ice? An advert like this can prompt lots of questions, and a different vision of life in Victorian times -and perhaps a link back to that Tudor house you visited that had an ‘ice-house' in the garden or in the deepest cellar.
