Over the last five years the Historical Association has run a regular feature in this journal about the First World War from some lesser-known perspectives. Its purpose has been to capture some of the stories not always told about that life-changing, society-transforming conflict. As the centenary of the Armistice has now passed, this article will be the last in the series Aspects of War. It covers some of the outcomes of the conflict and some of its legacies. 

All of the articles in the series will now be collated on one area of the website so that you will be able to revisit them. Replacing Aspects of War will be a new series, Real Lives, which will look at the women and men from around the UK and beyond who have slipped out of general history but who contributed to or were witnesses to significant events in the past...
