The idea of children actively participating in their own education continues to be central to drama education. This same idea is also fundamental to the underlying ethos of citizenship education.There is a side to drama that makes it a unique teaching method. In educational settings, a ‘process drama’ (O’Neill, 1995) has the potential to create imagined fictional contexts. Process drama is a powerful tool for learning because it can transform the largely invisible assumptions of our day to day lives and turn them into shared dramatic symbols and metaphors. Most importantly, the experience has the potential to create a safe but challenging environment
