Museums are memory boxes. They contain artefacts that tell stories about people in the past. The creation of a class museum is a simple and effective way of bringing the past to life through investigation, imagination, creativity, story and drama. It also impinges directly upon the literacy imperatives of the school curriculum – oracy, reading, writing, enactive learning, role play linked to pupils’ learning styles – and can be integrated within the overall curriculum to give it focus and purpose.
