The Hampstead Terror

Review by Archie, Year 5, The Cathedral School of St Peter and St John
I really enjoyed this book because it was full of adventure and mystery. The part where Jack meets Flea was my favourite because it made me excited to know what would happen next. The book was set in Victorian London, and it was interesting to read because it made me imagine what it would have been like to live back then, especially in the dark sewers beneath the city. My favourite character was Jack because he was brave and always ready to face challenges, even when things got dangerous. My least favourite character was Flea at first because I didn’t know if I could trust him. I learned that there were treasure hunts and dangerous criminals in the past, which made me think about how different things were back then. The part that stood out the most to me was when they were in the sewers. I would recommend this book to other children because it’s full of action and mystery, and you get to learn about the past while being on a thrilling adventure. There was nothing I disliked about the book, but I didn’t like how the adventure got even more dangerous as it went on.

The Hampstead Terror is a book filled with twists and cliffhangers that follows a group of teens in the unsettling streets of Hampstead, London. I found this book interesting because of the way it combined history with mystery and crime perfectly into one book. I found that this book was educational about what it was like in Victorian London which I did enjoy but had the right amount of mystery that it kept pulling you in to read more. Overall, I think this book is perfect for anyone looking for a thrilling crime story with a captivating plot and interesting characters.
