The Houdini Inheritance

I enjoyed reading the book because it had many interesting chapters and unexpected twists. During the story Harry Houdini, a famous escape artist, performed a show at a tourist attraction Sidford-by-the-sea, a pier where many people gathered to watch his shows. In the stunt he would jump off the pier, wrapped in chains trying to unlock the padlocks without drowning in the deep waters.
The story was set in 1920, and Glory and her friend Dennis go and watch Houdini perform his dangerous stunt, but Glory has outsmarted Houdini and has found out all his secrets behind the stunts and is asked by him to keep them safe.
My favourite character is Dennis because he followed and supported Glory on her mission and he also has a very interesting personality and way of thinking about things.
I would recommend this book to people who like adventure and mystery stories because Dennis and Glory go an exciting journey to help Houdini and the story keeps you in suspense - you don’t know what is going to happen next!

The Houdini Inheritance is about two close friends – Glory and Dennis – who witness a spectacular stunt performed by the famous escapologists, Harry Houdini. When Glory unintentionally outwits him, she becomes involved in Mr and Mrs Houdini’s plans to protect the trunk containing Harry’s secrets and life’s work, which is so deeply coveted by his fierce rivals. I loved the strong friendship Glory and Dennis share. They are supportive of each other throughout the book and work incredibly well together. I found Glory and Effie’s mother to be interesting. She keeps the fact that Glory had a twin sister till the very end of the book which means she was never fully open with her children until that moment. She also fails to send any postcards while away, whereas Denis’ mother sent them daily.
I thought this book was packed with excitement and action. It had me intrigued and I was unable to put it down. This story signifies the value of loyalty, friendship and determination. The Houdini Inheritance is for anybody who wishes to be captured in a world of exhilaration and adventure.
I greatly enjoyed the journey Dennis, Glory, Effie and Granny Vic had to deliver the trunk to Mrs Houdini. It answered many questions, though built more suspense which ensured anyone reading would continue turning the pages.
