Fablehouse

Review by Maya, Year 5, The Cathedral School of St Peter and St John
I really enjoyed this book because it was full of adventure and mystery. My favourite part was when Heather and her friends, The Roamers, met Palamedes.I liked how they found someone who looked like them; The story was set in 1950s Britain, which made it even more interesting. I liked learning about how children lived in Fablehouse and how their past connected to the war. My favourite character was Heather because she was brave and determined to save Fablehouse, even when things got scary. My least favourite character was the strange, possessed children and staff because they were creepy. The part that stood out the most to me was when Heather and her friends had to face the dark forces beneath their feet to save Fablehouse. It kept me hooked and made me want to keep reading. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves mystery, adventure, and magic.

I found heather and rose quite interesting, this was because Rose made me feel suspicious as I thought she was tricking people. I was interested in Heather because she couldn’t control her fire but managed to save her friends by using her fire power.

I didn’t learn too much about the past when reading this book, but the plot was exciting as there were many cliff-hangers and shocking parts.

To me the magical part stands out the most because you wouldn’t find this sort of magic in the real world. I would recommend this book to adventure lovers as it is very exciting.
