Super Sleuth

Review by Sammy, age 7, Charlton Kings Junior School, Cheltenham
Super Sleuth is an interesting murder mystery that kept me excited to the very last paragraph. The book is set on a boat on the Atlantic Ocean with lots of suspicious characters. Some of them don’t make it home!

The characters in Super Sleuth are a little bit strange, but that’s why the book is enjoyable. There’s the angry chef, the fake posh Lord Fox, the funny Watson who can only bark and my favourite character, the captain, who is cautious and shouty (kind of like me!)

I really enjoyed the murders because they were icky but funny. For example, the grossest death was the maestro’s because he died in blancmange.

There was nothing bad about this book and I would recommend it to anyone 6+.

The book super sleuth is about a young girl called Dilly who wanted to become a detective. Her aunt doesn’t like children especially Dilly. Her aunt and her boyfriend went on a trip to New York, and they were on a cruise called the Masquerade going back to London, but doing the journey there was a murder on the ship. Dilly was really interested in the case, so she went around the cruise to find evidence about the murder. During all this thing happening her aunt and her boyfriend got married meaning her aunt who loves money was going to do something bad to get the money. My favourite part was about the way when they found out that it was Dilly’s aunt that murdered the detective. I found the captain interesting because he didn’t dislike Dilly for what she was doing. I would recommend to others who like mystery novels. I think that the book being set on a ship is the best setting for a murder mystery story.
