I found this book amazing. I loved how the characters switch in every other chapter (Lizzie and Jakob). This gives a different perspective of the two siblings. Lizzie thinks that her mum is still alive which gives a positive thought to the book. I like how it is set just before the blitz on England, so everyone is evacuating, and you never know who is a spy. There could be a spy around the corner. This book is one of the best books I have ever read in my life, and I would definitely buy it.

A powerful work of historical fiction that truly keeps the reader at the edge of their seats! I absolutely enjoyed reading the book, mainly because of its compelling storytelling and engaging characters, but the plot seemed to be too complex, even though it was a full-length novel because of the same, and the vocabulary was a bit difficult at some points in the story. The characters were very much interesting and incredibly developed in line with the storyline by the author, which made the story even more thought-provoking and exciting! I think my personal favourite was John the detective, because of his clever ideas and incredible insights on the world of technology back at the time! The blurb especially caught my eye, as it was set during WW2 which I'm also currently studying in History, making it even more relevant to my own knowledge of literature that reflected the Nazi period! I should say I've learnt quite a lot, mainly the Enigma and how it evolved during that time period, and I would definitely recommend this book to all history lovers who are interested in adventure as well. A 9 out of 10 for me!

The Bletchley Riddle by Ruta Sepetys and Steve Sheinkin is a fascinating historical novel set during World War II, focusing on the secretive world of codebreakers at Bletchley Park. The historical setting was both engaging and educational, making me appreciate the complexity of wartime intelligence. I found the main character particularly interesting because of their intelligence and determination. The best part of the book, in my opinion, was when the protagonist cracked a seemingly impossible code under intense pressure—it was a thrilling moment that highlighted their brilliance and the stakes of their work. The plot was thought-provoking and suspenseful, keeping me hooked throughout. I would recommend this book to other pupils, especially those who enjoy history, problem solving and even puzzles.
