Review by Tristan (Age 9) , St Andrew’s CE Primary, Headington
This book was interesting because it was set during a dangerous time. I realised that Romans at that time were clever as well as fearless and I learned that Romans believed in Gods. This book had wisps of history and made me feel like I was part of the story. Lucius was my favourite character because he was so brave. I would describe this book as exciting, historical and gory - not for the faint hearted!

Review by Seamus, Year 6, The Cathedral School of St Peter and St John
Roman Boy was an interesting book. I enjoyed it because it was historical, and I learned a lot about the Romans while reading it. I found out that Roman boys wore jewellery, which I didn’t know before. My favourite character was Lucius because he was selfless and always thought of others. My least favourite character was Arwenna because she was loud. The plot was exciting and followed a young boy growing up to be a gladiator. The part that stood out the most to me was when Lucius was talking to his stepfather. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes the Roman era because it was a great mix of history and adventure!
