The book was a very fast paced enjoyable book with lots of adventure and a lot of chariot racing! What most stands out in the book is that chariot racing is the biggest thing in the whole Roman Empire. The characters in the book dream of driving a chariot for one of the four racing teams and they progress to become some of the charioteers for one of these teams. I found the plot very exciting; there were no parts that I found dull because the whole book is filled with action. I liked the way the plot crosses between Africa where the horses are trained and Rome where the teams are based. The character I found the most interesting was Lucius who is the best friend of the main character and the adopted son of the emperor. Although it is not a book I would normally read, I found it very interesting and thought-provoking, and I would definitely read a sequel!

I like books about horses, so this was perfect. My favourite character was Dido because she has an interesting character. I liked the plot which had an adventurous journey with magical horses you can talk about your problems with. I would recommend this book and liked everything about it.
