I liked this book because it was like real-life and it showed lots of affection. My favourite character was the baby because she was mostly quiet in it but at some bits, she had a really excited look on her face that made me smile. I liked reading about all the disasters that went on because this helped me learn about what it was like in WWII. I also liked how the book was laid out and the pictures were like glimpse of the past. I found the book easy to read but occasionally there was some tricky language for instance the word plentiful. I would recommend this book to people who are interested in history. There wasn’t anything I didn’t like; I enjoyed the whole book.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I would recommend it to all pupils who want to learn about war especially to years 4 and above. I would love to read more of this authors books. I think if you already have read one of his books you would love the Blitz. I learned from this book that London was bombed so much, and their shelter was the underground. The time it is set is so interesting, and I would love to read more books the same time this book is set. I thought the nan was most interesting because whenever a siren went off, she would stay home and not go to shelter and she said she survived other wars doing that. I liked the mum most because she was so sweet and kind, she just known she had to evacuate her children. This story is serious because it tells you what families went through in the war. What most stands out is the illustration and the story itself and its full of interesting facts like the shelter is the undergrounds. There are no bad bits about the story for me it was just so good.

First of all, I really enjoyed the book. Blitz is based on World War 2 and the Blitz itself. It is a picture book and has some amazing art. I don’t normally read books like this, but it didn’t matter because I liked it none the less. For people who are fascinated by war I would recommend it, and even if you are not, you might still like it, just like I did. Also, if you already read Martin Impey books then I think you will like his latest book too.
In terms of age group, I would personally recommend age 7 and above. This is the first Martin Impey book that I’ve ever read but if all his books are as good as this then I look forward to reading them as well.
I also learnt some very interesting facts that I did not know before, such as the fact that there were bomb shelters during the war. This was fascinating because I had always wondered what it would be like to live during a war. I now want to read more books like this.
Blitz is very well written because it made me want to read more. I really liked all of the characters in the book, but I liked the dad the most because he was brave enough to actually fight in the war.
The plot was very exciting and had a few twists to keep you surprised. The parts that most stood out to me were the double pages with only pictures on because I felt like I was there. A few times I actually had to look around to make sure I wasn’t getting bombed! Overall, Blitz is a great book – 10/10!
