I really enjoyed reading this book!

It’s a mystery set in Paris. Nell’s best friend, Pear, seems to have disappeared so, when Nell gets the chance to investigate, she sets out on an adventure to find her friend.

The story is full of twists and unexpected turns as Nell explores the streets of Paris. I would love to follow in her steps one day.

I would recommend this story to years 5 and 6. I think they would enjoy it too.

This book was a page flipper!!!

Nell Magnificent the daughter of the most brilliant fashon designer of all of England goes to Paris to find long lost friend.

I loved this book. My favourite part was when the friends found each other again. The bit that made me sad was when I found out that Melinda (Nell’s Mother) sent Perrine away. 

The charicters are Nell – Pear/Perrene. Melinda and Gerrald and the sewer children. Pear/Perrene is stong, courageous and friendly.

Nell is fear-less kind and imaginative. Melinda and Gerald are posh, awful and selfish. My favourite character is Nell because she is funny and fearless. 

I would recommend this book to people who are interested in mysterious friendships. children age 8+

I recommend this book highly for older KS2 and KS3.

The story twists and turns along a cycle of adventure. I loved finding out about French life, I think the author likes French food!  I enjoyed following the adventures as the characters moved around Paris. I now want to visit Paris so I can explore the city as well, particularly as the story helped me with my French.

A good read, I hope other people enjoy it too.

This book is mysterious! A girl named Nell has very rood and mean parents Who send her very best friend away. Nell rushes to her escape box and wants t o head to Paris wich is where her friend now lives. 

I like the book a lot, I just don’t like the bit where Nell askes someone what happened to Pear and they say she was fired for being a thief. Other than that I love the book! 

Nell is adventurous, brave, she perseveres, is kind, smart, bold and has a great memory for names of streets and things like that. 

Xavier is a thinker, is cool knows lots of people and has the short cuts to get to most places in his memory. 

I would recomend this book to year 4, 5 and 6, I would also recomend it to people who like different countries and languages, also to people who like France!

This book is interesting and it has lots of tricky words.

Opinion and information: There was a girl called Nell. She was a hated child but why? Her parents did not like Nell at all. She got sent off to boarding school. Soon it was Summer holidays and went to a hotel with her parents but her parents did not like it. Nell loved Paris and reading. Nell was kind and lovely she came from a mean family.

Mum and dad were nasty, mean and away away annoyed at stuff.

Recommend: I would recommend this book to 8–13 year olds because it has tricky words and I would give it to my cousin who is 9.

• Which of the characters you found most interesting and why? I found Nell the most interesting because she did all the adventures like going under tunnels and in the book she has mean parents.
• Which of the characters (if any) you didn’t like and why? I didn’t really like Niege because I thought he was an over taking character and wanted to do everything on his own.
• Did you learn anything new about the past from the book? I found out that Paris has underground tunnels.
• What made the history or the time it was set in interesting to you? I found it interesting to learn that in Paris they have underground tunnels and some people lived there. I certain places there are skulls.

I also found it thought-provoking because they had four different plans and you need to keep them in your head so we could weight up which plan is the best. There are also a lot of characters too.
• What most stands out for you from the book? My favourite part was when she went to the underground tunnels and she found skulls and her dad.
• Would you recommend it to other pupils? Yes, because it has different events in it and it is curious to find out what happens.
