The true story because I know what actually happened. I think it would be for year 4 or 5.

Yes, because my friend likes the Stone Age.

The thing I liked was at the start, when Willow got a chance to hunt.

The message I thought of was always give another person, no matter what they are, a chance to do their dreams.

About the author: Terry Deary was born on 3rd January 1946. Terry Deary is a British children’s author and has done over 2000 books, also selling over 25 million copies in over 40 languages. Best known as the writer of the Horrible Histories series.

My favourite part was when they left some food and a bone and the wolves came and started chewing on the bone and the guy came and said, “I should have put the bone underground”.

I would recommend it to a friend because they like funny stories.

Summary: This book is about a Stone Age group trying to get food for the people in the cave. The painter, who had unfortunately died, had brought good luck to them before he did. Did you know that the painter was actually Willow’s dad? Willow has long and thin legs with pink skin. He also has red, short hair! If you would like to find out more about this amazing, spectacular book, read Stone Age Tales: The Great Cave.

Opinion: My favourite character is Willow because he still stood strong whatever occurred. My least favourite part was when Flint died because he was a fabulous leader for all ages.

Recommendation: I recommend this book for 6 and older because if you are younger you may not understand it. I recommend this book for children who are fascinated, interested, or intrigued in Stone Age Tales because this book is full of it!

Characters: I liked Willow because he knew what the tribe needed and was very kind. I did not like Bull because he was threatening Willow to kill him and he did kill the leader of the tribe.

Plot: Willow’s tribe had lost its luck since their painter died. The tribe was getting hungry and angry and all they cared about was who was the best hunter. So when the hunters went out, Willow was desperate to go with them. Willow because the new painter and the tribe got their luck back.

I thought it was an “OK” book because it didn’t really catch my interest and was quite boring at times. I understand why others would like this book but it would be more suitable for a lower age group.

I recommend this book to ages 6–8.

I enjoyed this book because I felt really good reading it, it made me feel really excited and I wanted to know what would happen next.

I found Flint the most interesting character because he is really nice to Willow at the beginning of the story even though he died very early the character that I disliked was Bull, he was very mean to Willow at the and all the other parts except the end.

The thing I learned was that the people from the Stone Age hunted bison. It was very interesting to read about the Stone Age because they were the first humans.

I found the plot very enjoyable because there are some nice characters but also some mean characters. The thing that stands out to me the most is the whole story! I would recommend this to other pupils, it can be a bit grim at times but mostly not. That is all.

This was a great book to read. I learned lots about Stone Age people and how they lived. The book taught me that people lived in tribes and had a leader. I learned that they hunted bison in the fields and used to paint in caves to please the spirits.

I liked Willow the best. I did not like Bull but it was good at the end when they became friends.

I would rate this book four out of five and recommend it for children in years 3 and 4.

I like Willow because he is courageous and adventurous because he wants to hunt. I didn’t like Bull because he is mean and full of himself.

Yes, I didn’t know that the Stone Age had flint for fires.

When was the book set? What made the history or the time it was set in interesting?
It was set in the Stone Age era.

Was the plot exciting, thought-provoking, serious, or light-hearted?
It was really good because I liked the leader. He was kind to Willow and is very mature (for a caveman).

What stands out most for you from the book?
When Bull told ten people to come with him to set up a trap for an ox.

Would you recommend it to other pupils?
Yes, because it is awesome and it has good characters in it.

7 stars out of 10.

Terrry Deary makes it obvious. He writes funny things but makes it sound a normal part of their life, “they say he is 35 winters old”.

The name Rainbow felt Stone-Agey and he introduces it without any jokes, just like it’s ordinary. All the characters have nature names like Willow and they are named for strength.

It doesn’t have facts in, but it makes me feel like Terry Deary was actually in Stone Age times, because it has a realistic feel to it. I love how Terry's language is easy to understand because children should understand how it was to be Stone Age.

I also like how Terry at the end explains how he got the idea for the story.
