Virtual Branch: Bricks and the making of the city
Virtual Branch Lecture Recording
In this HA Virtual Branch talk Peter Hounsell drew on his recently published book Bricks of Victorian London, exploring the crucial role brick production played in the creation of Britain's capital and why the important place of bricks in the fabric of the city isn't always obvious.
Peter Hounsell has published two books on the history of Ealing, but now works on the history of London more generally, including a publication on London's Rubbish: Two Centuries of Dirt, Dust and Disease in the Metropolis. His new book Bricks of Victorian London: a social and economic history is published this month. Peter is also currently the Chair of the Ealing Branch, Chair of the Branches Committee, and a Trustee of the Association.
