National History Book Competition Winner 2017
Historical Association – Amberley Publishing
The Historical Association and Amberley Publishing are pleased to announce that the winner of this year’s National History Book Competition is Into the Remote Places: the RAF in the Middle East, 1918 to the present day by Alastair Farquharson. This will be a comprehensive history of British military involvement in the region from the very early years of the RAF to its actions in present-day warzones.
The prize is awarded to an unpublished book proposal or work of history from either an aspiring or established author. The winner was selected from a high-quality shortlist of eight entries, on subjects ranging from a Victorian heiress to town criers. Alastair Farquharson’s winning entry will earn him a publishing contract with leading history publishers Amberley and a £1,000 advance. The organisers would like to thank all those who entered and we look forward to next year’s competition.
