Description: The show resurrects the story of the Guglielmites, a 13th-century spiritual movement that placed women at the centre of sacred power. Their leader, Guglielma of Bohemia, and her successor Maifreda da Piovano Visconti, inspired a following so radical it was branded heresy — and may even have inspired the Tarot card of La Papessa (later, the High Priestess). Through wit, ritual, and storytelling, The Popess explores faith, freedom, and rebellion against the power structures that seek to silence women, inviting audiences to question who truly has the right to define truth.
