Description: The seventeenth-century Civil Wars left a deep impression on the national population. As many as one in four adult males in England alone were mobilised for the various armies. This looks at the wide variety of impacts the war had on those who fought and their relatives through the evidence provided by those petitioning for financial support as a result of the impact of war
