Awards, Fellowships & the Quality Mark
We have a number of highly-respected awards that seek to recognise outstanding history, whether it reflects a lifetime’s achievement and dedication to history as seen in our prestigious annual Medlicott Medal or a competition that engages young people in a particular aspect of history. Our awards currently cover:
- Teachers and schools: Quality Mark (Primary / Secondary) and Teacher Fellowships programmes; Inspiring History Teacher Award
- Academic historians: the annual Medlicott Medal for Service to History which includes some of the UK’s finest historians.
- Historians amongst the community: Honorary Fellowships
- Historical fiction: The Young Quills (Primary / Secondary) – annual awards for the writers of historical fiction for children and young people. The shortlist is created by children themselves.
- Students and pupils: The Great Debate – annual public-speaking competition for school years 10-13; Young Historian Awards (Primary / Secondary); Write your own historical fiction competition (Primary / Secondary)
