Engaging Places

Keep up to date with educational initiatives, new developments with venues and organisations, and creative learning projects in schools.

Engaging Places is an initiative brought to you by the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) in partnership with English Heritage.

The Engaging Places website is built using the Culture24 publishing system and is powered by their database of UK cultural organisations, events, resources and exhibitions. Culture24 are non-profit online cultural publishers who are funded by MLA, Arts Council and DCSF.

The Engaging Places website aims to:

  • provide a curriculum-focused resource for teachers in England to support, develop and enhance built environment education in primary and secondary schools.
  • inspire and guide teachers in accessing and using high-quality and relevant built environment education organisations and resources locally and nationally.

Teachers can use the Engaging Places website to:

  • identify organisations that can assist with learning using buildings and places
  • keep up to date with news and events
  • find resources to help create a thematic curriculum for primary and secondary learners
  • be inspired by the learning journeys of other schools
  • share experiences of using buildings and places in teaching and learning
  • access local and national built environment education opportunities.

There are currently some interesting project results on the engaging places website, most notably the case study from Brighton.
