How your donations can help

As a charity the HA is completely independent of any government or statutory support. Our main source of income is through your membership. We rely heavily on the work of volunteers (such as all the people giving fantastic workshops at the conference or writing in our publications) but we also need donations to develop new resources and to help ensure everyone can access great history.

Through the work we do with primary and secondary schools we are helping great teachers reach out to millions of young people every year: we are passionate about putting history at the heart of education.

Our podcasts and branch talks bring history to thousands of adults who love the subject.

We want to do more but need your support to make this possible. A couple of the projects that would benefit from support are:

The Great Debate: a public speaking programme for 16 to 19 year olds. Having the skills and the confidence to make informed and passionate speeches with tight frameworks and time limitations is a wonderful way for young people to develop and to inspire them to continue with their education and (perhaps) their history. Unfortunately, those young people who really need the support rarely get so much access. We want to reach out to those kids and support them in developing the skills and accessing the competitions through practical financial support. Click here for more details about the Great Debate...

History Quality Mark: We are currently running a pilot scheme which we will roll-out to schools next year. Our aim is to support those schools doing great history. Plenty of schools do have the funds to engage in the scheme but not all of them. We want to ensure those schools how are struggling can still show they are doing fantastic history. Can you help sponsor a school?
