Discover Rwanda

Join Aegis Students this summer 2010 on a life changing journey by participating in our educational and volunteering trip to experience Rwanda, the "Land of a Thousand Hills".

Discover Rwanda is a 3 week long trip for youth and students to Rwanda, packed full of different activities with a focus on learning about the genocide which tore Rwanda apart in 1994, meeting the survivors and engaging in activities to confront its legacy and understand what we can do, to help prevent it occurring again.

Aegis Students, the student wing of the NGO and charity Aegis Trust which works to prevent genocide, is an international youth movement committed to educating, campaigning and fundraising to end genocide. As you may know, Aegis Trust was invited to create the Kigali Memorial Centre - which opened in 2004 - in partnership with the Kigali City Council. Aegis continues to manage the centre and among other projects, provides support to destitute survivors and education for Rwanda's youth against genocide ideology.

Participants in Discover Rwanda will experience Rwanda's vibrant culture, visit genocide memorial sites, build meaningful relationships, participate in social activities, discover the tourist sites, attend specially orgnanised seminars, engage with like-minded students in Rwandan Aegis Students groups and contribute to Aegis Trust's projects in Rwanda. Participants also have the opportunity to develop and pursue research objectives through the structure of the trip and will be supported by the Discover Rwanda team in this.

For more information about the trip, including a booking form, poster and a brochure about Discover Rwanda visit or view their short film...
