Victoria County History provides free local history resources for schools
A new website from Victoria County History offers teachers free access to units of work backed by the research of professional historians.
The Schools Learning Zone has been produced as part of the Victoria County History's Heritage Lottery-funded project England's Past for Everyone. The materials have been tested in schools and show students how their local history is linked to wider historical events. Downloadable teachers' packs include indoor and outdoor activities, timelines and other historical resources. Aimed at Key Stages 1-3, the lesson plans are linked to National Curriculum learning outcomes for each unit of work.
Further materials, including interactive activities for students, will be added throughout 2009.
