People of the Great War: Shaping the Modern World
Recently a free resource from the Imperial War Museum should have arrived in your school - a copy was sent to every school in the country. 'People of the Great War: Shaping the Modern World' commemorates the 90th anniversary of the end of WW1. It consists of a 12 minute DVD for use in lessons and/or assemblies, and a CD-Rom, full of supporting activities, for both Primary and Secondary pupils. The heart of the CD-Rom is a superb collection of images from the IWM archive, which you can save and use as you wish, along with teaching notes and suggestions for activities to use in your lessons. Activities are designed to support History, Citizenship, PSHE, English and other subjects, so the resource may not have reached you! Search it out! If it has disappeared into a mythical 'black hole' then it, and other supporting resources can be downloaded from www.iwm.org.uk/peopleofthegreatwar.
